Black Sweet Sticky Rice Recipe

This Asian Inspired Black Sticky Rice is a classic in most Asian Countries but something unique you can bring to your table no matter where you live. This is a dessert type rice dish your kids will love and will remind them of rice pudding.

Black Sweet Sticky Rice Recipe


2 ½ cups water
1 cup black rice
1 cup full-fat coconut milk, cream separated
4 tbs. brown sugar
½ tsp. salt


1. Separate the cream from the coconut milk using a fine mesh strainer. Reserve the cream.
2. Combine the rice, milk and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and then reduce to low heat. Let the rice cook uncovered for 60 minutes. Stir every 10 minutes.
3. Add the brown sugar and salt to the rice. Taste the rice and add more sugar to sweeten if desired. Add additional milk to loosen if desired. Top each bowl with a tablespoon of coconut cream. Serve.
