Creating the perfect hamburger patty is easier than you think. Here are some simple tips to making this grilling classic.

1 lb. ground sirloin or ground round
1 large egg
ΒΌ onion, grated
1 tsp. season salt


1. Place the ground beef in a large mixing bowl, crack the egg into the center and, with your hands, work the egg throughout the beef. This helps the burger to hold its shape.
2. Add the onion and season salt, mixing again. Break the ground beef into six even portions, and form these into patties. Make the center a bit thinner than the edges; this ensures an even, flat burger.
3. Grill over medium heat until the desired doneness is reached.
