Dark Chocolate Almond Candied Apples

By: Sheila Reynolds

This dark chocolate candied apple with almonds is a wonderful holiday time dessert or a great gift idea for friends and family. They are very easy to make, and yet will be something your friends or family will be impressed with the beauty of them.

  • 16 ounces dark chocolate chips
  • 2 cups slivered almonds
  • Apples
  • Skewers

  1. Cut a small hole in the bottom of each apple with a paring knife, slightly smaller in diameter than the skewers for a tight fight. Push the skewers securely into the apples.
  2. Place the chocolate in a heat proof bowl and arrange the almonds on a large plate. Heat the chocolate over a double boiler, whisking it smooth.
  3. Dip the apples into the chocolate and then roll each one in the almonds. Place the apples on a wax-paper covered tray and refrigerate for two to three hours to set.
