Decadent Chocolate Covered Pretzels

By: Sheila Reynolds

Chocolate Covered Pretzels are so simple to make and yet still so delicious as an anytime dessert. You get the wonderful crunch and saltiness of the pretzel with the sweet decadence of the chocolate and then add whatever topping you desire to further tempt your taste buds. Below are a couple of my favorite toppings that are always a hit with whoever I give this treat to.

  • 16 ounces dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Coconut shavings
  • Chopped nuts
  • Pretzel sticks

  1. Place the chocolate chips in a heat-proof dish. Add a few inches of water to a saucepan and bring it to a simmer. Place the bowl on top of the pot, ensuring the bottom doesn’t touch the water, and turn the heat off.
  2. Whisk the chocolate until smooth and then whisk in the vanilla. Remove from the heat.
  3. Dip the pretzel sticks in the chocolate, leaving a small end uncovered for easy handling, and immediately roll in chopped nuts or coconut shavings. Place on a sheet of wax paper and refrigerate for two hours, or until the chocolate is set.
