By: Sheila Reynolds

In a game day pinch and need some serious awesome halftime snacks? Homemade Jalepeno Poppers will give you just the right balance of heat and salty goodness to provide you with the perfect excuse to grab another cold one from the fridge.

How To Make Homemade Jalapeno Poppers Recipe

Cream cheese, softened
1 egg
1 cup bread crumbs, plain
½ cup panko bread crumbs
½ tsp. season salt
Peanut oil, for frying
Coarse sea salt

1. Cut jalapenos lengthwise without cutting in half (the peppers will open like a book). Keep the stems intact. Remove the seeds with a sharp paring knife.
2. Fill with cream cheese. Mix bread crumbs and season salt together. Beat egg. Dip the jalapenos, closed over the cheese filling, in the egg and then the breadcrumbs.
3. Heat oil to 350. Deep fry the jalapenos for three to five minutes, or until golden brown. Use tongs to keep them closed while cooking if necessary. Sprinkle with sea salt right after removing from the oil.

Note: You can cut off the tops, seed the jalapenos, and fill them as well. Or you can mix up your method for an interesting presentation.
