Homemade Southern Country Biscuit Recipe

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
¾ tsp. salt
1 tbs baking powder
¼ tsp. baking soda
4 tbs butter
1 cup whole milk
1 lemon, juiced

Directions

1. Add the lemon juice to the milk and let it sit for 10 minutes. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
2. Whisk together the first four ingredients in a large bowl.
3. Dice the butter into small cubes and freeze it for five minutes. Cut it into the dry ingredients with a pastry blender. It should resemble small gravel.
4. Pour in the milk and stir to combine. Sprinkle flour over a clean work surface.
5. Knead the dough on the work surface three to four times, and then roll it out until about 1-inch thick. Cut out 2 inch rounds and arrange these on a cookie sheet.
6. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
