Sweet Fried Plantains Recipe

This Sweet Fried Plantains recipe is a great twist on traditional latin inspired fried plantains. By adding the sweetness to the plantains you can make this into a dessert or sweet side dish.

Sweet Fried Plantains Recipe

Ingredients

1 lb. ripe plantains, sliced
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup almond flour
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tbs. dark brown sugar
Pinch of salt
1 lemon, juiced
½ cup sugar
1 egg
½ cup whole milk

Oil, for frying

Directions

· Combine the flours, baking powder, and sugars in a large bowl. Combine the lemon juice, milk and egg in another. Add the wet ingredients to the dry, whisking until smooth. Refrigerate for 15 minutes to thicken.
· Heat oil to 350 degrees. Dip the plantain slices in the batter and then fry until golden brown, about three to four minutes.
· Drain on paper towels before serving.
