Top Foods To Avoid If You Have High Blood Pressure

Here are some top foods that you will want to avoid to help keep your blood pressure from skyrocketing.

Dill Pickles – Yes, pickles are healthy low calorie snacks, but not surprising, being soaked in a salt brine can add as much as 500mg of sodium or more in medium sized pickle.

Chicken Noodle Soup – Unless you are making your mom’s secret recipe in which you are in control of the sodium content, most cans of chicken noodle soup are loaded with salt.

Bacon – Bacon is a double whammy as it is loaded in salt from the brining and curing process as is a not-so-healthy dose of saturated fat.

Sauerkraut – Another low calorie vegetable side dish that is hiding a huge amount of salt from its brining fermentation process.

Dry Ramen Noodles -  Unfortunately, this staple to many a college kids daily diet is loaded with not only salt, but also fat as they are typically fried in oil before being dried and packaged.

Alcohol – Though not high in salt or fat, alcohol consumption is often linked to blood pressure elevation. And I’m sure I don’t need to point out, especially avoid tequila shots requiring you to first lick salt!
