Traditional Italian Pizza with Egg on Top

This traditional Italian styled Pizza recipe with an Egg on Top will bring you back to your summer abroad in Italy where the sight of an egg on top of your pizza probably caught you off guard. Adding an egg on top of your pizza is a very European angle you add to most pizzas.

Traditional Italian Pizza with Egg on Top

Ingredients

Pizza dough ( your pizza dough recipe of choice)

Sliced roma tomatoes
6 ounces mozzarella cheese
Sliced ham
1 egg
Salt and pepper, to taste
Olive oil

Directions

1. Roll out the pizza dough and lay across a pizza stone. Preheat the oven to 500.
2. Arrange sliced tomatoes along the base of the pizza. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Arrange the ham on top.
3. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the pizza. Crack an egg and set this, raw, in the center.
4. Bake until lightly charred, the cheese is melted, and the egg white is set, about 12 to 15 minutes.
